Is there a way to password protect or privatize some categories?
Sure. Create Lists and assign them to a certain category. Then use the shortcode generator to display that category of Lists on an of your WordPress Page and post.
How does upvote work?
Users can upvote once a day for one specific list item. Otherwise, people would abuse the system.
Cannot get the plugin to sort my links as I want
Are you looking to order Lists or List items? They do have different shortcode parameters. For Lists it is orderby and List items it is item_orderby. Please confirm if you are using the correct shortcode.
When activating Simple Link Directory, a new blank page with the name “Embed Link” is automatically created.
This page is created by our plugin and required for the Embed function to work. Please do not try to delete that.
Custom List Ordering is not working. What is wrong?
For List Ordering to work, either specify orderby=”menu_order” order=”ASC in the short code or leave these empty.
I have some blank pages that are crawled by Google! How to avoid them?
Like many, if not most, WordPress plugins SLD uses custom posts and WordPress creates slug URLs even though they are not being used by SLD at the moment. We are working on making use of them.
Is it possible to sort the lists based on upvotes?
Yes. You can order list items by upvote count. For List items use the parameter: item_orderby=”upvotes”.
Do you have pagination or load more items?
Items in lists can be paginated. This option is available in the shortcode generator. But you can also add the parameters manually.
I have a list to import but it does not work and there is no message saying why my import does not work.
The most common reason for failed import is encoding. The CSV file itself and characters in it must be in utf-8 format. Please check your CSV file for any unusual/non-utf-8 characters. If the problem persists, please email us the CSV file.
Is there a maximum number of links in a list?
In fact, there is! But the restriction is not limited by our plugin but your hosting server. The server’s configuration that dictates this is max_input_vars. Set it to a high limit like max_input_vars = 10000.
